OBC Committee – Constitution & Responsibilities
Objective: To safeguard the rights, interests, and welfare of students and staff belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and to ensure effective implementation of government policies and schemes.
Constitution of the Committee
- Chairman: Principal of the Institution
- Convener: Senior Faculty Member
- Members:
- Faculty representatives from various departments
- Administrative staff member
- Student representatives (at least one male and one female from OBC category)
- Special Invitees: Legal advisor / Social welfare officer (if required)
Responsibilities of the Committee
- Policy Implementation: Ensure implementation of OBC reservation policies as per Government norms
- Grievance Redressal: Address complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and denial of rights
- Awareness & Guidance: Provide information about scholarships, fee concessions, and welfare schemes
- Welfare Measures: Support academic and personal development of OBC students
- Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain records and submit reports to administration
- Prevention of Discrimination: Promote equality and conduct awareness programs
- Coordination: Liaise with UGC and Social Welfare Departments
Meetings
- Conduct meetings at least once per semester
- Emergency meetings as required
Quorum
- Minimum 50% of members including Chairman/Convener
Tenure
- Members serve for 2–3 years or as decided by the institution
