OBC Committee – Constitution & Responsibilities
Objective: To safeguard the rights, interests, and welfare of students and staff belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and to ensure effective implementation of government policies and schemes.

Constitution of the Committee

  • Chairman: Principal of the Institution
  • Convener: Senior Faculty Member
  • Members:
    • Faculty representatives from various departments
    • Administrative staff member
    • Student representatives (at least one male and one female from OBC category)
  • Special Invitees: Legal advisor / Social welfare officer (if required)

Responsibilities of the Committee

  • Policy Implementation: Ensure implementation of OBC reservation policies as per Government norms
  • Grievance Redressal: Address complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and denial of rights
  • Awareness & Guidance: Provide information about scholarships, fee concessions, and welfare schemes
  • Welfare Measures: Support academic and personal development of OBC students
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain records and submit reports to administration
  • Prevention of Discrimination: Promote equality and conduct awareness programs
  • Coordination: Liaise with UGC and Social Welfare Departments

Meetings

  • Conduct meetings at least once per semester
  • Emergency meetings as required

Quorum

  • Minimum 50% of members including Chairman/Convener

Tenure

  • Members serve for 2–3 years or as decided by the institution
